Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thiago Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George Carlin! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to de liver by Anderson. Beautiful body shot. Anderson clinches with his opponent.
Anderson is trying to break free. A frustrated look appears on Carlin's face as he tries to break the clinch. Anderson breaks the clinch.
Thiago Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A nice combination there by Anderson.
Anderson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Carlin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Anderson. Anderson obviously looking to wear him down.
Anderson has Carlin up against the cage in a clinch.
Anderson manages to break the clinch.
Anderson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Carlin's calf. Carlin misses with a body punch
and Anderson counters with a two punch combo. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A slapping leg kick lands for Carlin.
Anderson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Carlin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carlin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Anderson breaks from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Anderson throws a right hand that Carlin ducks under and follows up with a left that Carlin also avoids with ease. Anderson throws a series of punches but Carlin moves out of range. Anderson tries to clinch but Carlin is having none of it. Carlin lets loose with a powerful body kick. Anderson will feel that in the morning. Carlin throws a lazy head kick and Anderson counters with a three punch combo that has Carlin backing up. Carlin nods at Anderson to acknowledge the strikes. Anderson scores with a three punch combo!
Carlin is rocked! Anderson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Carlin is still on wobbly legs! Can Anderson finish him? Carlin looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Look low, kick high! Anderson uses the oldest trick in the book to send Carlin tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Anderson is absolutely delighted - when Carlin wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Thiago Anderson!
