PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Haminall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Crewe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haminall's entrance music is The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkle. A fine choice. Crewe comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Longest Yard kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Haminall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Crewe!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haminall shoots in for a double leg but Crewe sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters circling a little - Crewe finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Crewe lands a nice looking body kick.
Haminall moves out of range as Crewe throws a body kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Haminall.
Crunch! Crewe slams his shin into Haminall's torso.
Crewe moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Haminall moves out of range of the body kick.
A jab from Haminall misses.
Haminall will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Crewe makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Haminall really felt that one!

Crewe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Haminall was covering up waiting for the punch and Crewe finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Crewe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Haminall is fending him off so far but Crewe persists. Nope, Haminall circles away and we're back to standing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Haminall crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Crewe - the referee stops the clock and Haminall gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Crewe. Haminall manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Haminall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Crewe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Haminall has managed to get both his arms back between Crewe's legs - danger averted.
