Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Toby Chapelle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Prince Vasquel!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapelle lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Vasquel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Chapelle is looking to escape.
Vasquel trying to mount his opponent but Chapelle defends it.
Vasquel passes to side control.
Chapelle is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Vasquel is controlling him well.
Vasquel sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Chapelle is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Vasquel tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
An elbow from Vasquel crashes against the mat.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Vasquel fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Chapelle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vasquel slips a jab and a cross from Chapelle.
Chapelle throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vasquel fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Chapelle leaves Vasquel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Toby Chapelle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Prince Vasquel.
Vasquel looks gassed!
Chapelle lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Vasquel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chapelle circles away.
Vasquel throws a shot from downtown. Chapelle moves away and avoids it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Chapelle. Vasquel does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chapelle moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Vasquel is rocked!
Vasquel avoids the head kick by Chapelle.
Chapelle cracks Vasquel with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Vasquel falls to his knees and Chapelle doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Toby Chapelle!
