Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Niko Hilavitku! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Homicidal Maniac! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hilavitku bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Hilavitku tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hilavitku is trying to get an arm triangle but Maniac is defending well. Hilavitku thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. You can see the frustration on Maniac's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hilavitku tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hilavitku has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hilavitku thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maniac is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hilavitku has just dragged him back down to the mat. Hilavitku looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Maniac is trying to control Hilavitku's posture but Hilavitku avoids it. Hilavitku tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hilavitku has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hilavitku working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Maniac can't do much from the bottom here. Maniac manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Maniac wants to stand up but Hilavitku has a hold of him and won't allow it. Hilavitku moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Maniac wants to pass the guard but Hilavitku is keeping the position. Hilavitku pushes a forearm under Maniac's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Maniac is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
