Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Loser Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damien Cook! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cook did well to prevent Johnson getting side control. Cook looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Johnson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Cook to regain full guard. Johnson passes Cook's left leg - he's now in half guard. Johnson is thwarting Cook's attempts to control the position. Johnson is looking for a kimura but Cook is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage. Cook has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Johnson is working away from the top position though. Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Johnson passes to full mount! Johnson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Johnson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cook can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson controls Cook momentarily but Cook frees himself. Johnson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cook passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Cook is trying to get an arm triangle but Johnson is defending well. Johnson struggling a bit here. Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Johnson tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson gets back to half guard. Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Johnson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Cook has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Johnson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Loser Johnson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cook throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Johnson closes the distance and clinches. The referee is keeping an eye on Johnson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Cook wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Cook stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet. Johnson pushes Cook up against the cage in a clinch. Cook is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson looking to throw knees to the head but Cook is blocking nicely.
Cook takes a knee to the side of the body. Johnson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Johnson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Johnson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Johnson pushes a forearm under Cook's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cook is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
