PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Prado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rejinaldo Araujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Prado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rejinaldo Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Prado has closed the distance and engaged Araujo in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Araujo's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Prado fails to pull guard.
Araujo working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Araujo wants to break free but Prado has control.
Prado missing with knees to the body.
Prado is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Araujo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Prado tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Araujo avoids it.

Prado has clasped his hands together around Araujo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Araujo is not content to let Prado control the position.

Prado thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Prado tries to move into full mount but can't pass Araujo's legs.
Araujo seems a little lost for a moment, as Prado dominates the positioning.
Araujo pushes Prado away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Prado gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Prado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Prado seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Prado wants to control but Araujo is keeping him busy.
Prado in side control, throwing shots but Araujo defends.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Araujo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Prado shoots in for a double leg but Araujo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leandro Prado. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Araujo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Prado circles away quickly and effectively.

Araujo catches Prado napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Prado to the canvas!

Prado is rocked!

It looks like Leandro Prado has been cut.
Araujo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Prado. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Araujo postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces Prado's head off the mat! Prado is out! He's out! Araujo jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!
