Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henrique Paiva!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paiva takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Paiva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carver's waist but Carver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paiva off to one side.
Paiva ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carver moves away.
Carver throws a leg kick but Paiva sees it coming and moves out of range.
Paiva throws a hook but Carver blocks it.
Carver swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Paiva counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Carver throws a body punch but Paiva moves out of range.
Paiva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Carver takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A shot to the body from Paiva misses
and Carver connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Paiva throws a right and a left that Carver avoids nicely.
Carver changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Brian Carver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carver listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Carver lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carver moves into range and connects with a jab.
Carver is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Paiva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Brian Carver is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A combination from Paiva does no damage.
Paiva stuns Carver with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Paiva misses the shot to the body.
Carver misses with an uppercut. Paiva saw that one coming.
Paiva throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Paiva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Carver ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Carver lands with a nice body punch.

Carver connects with a nice looking jab.

Carver throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carver swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Carver dips to his left and cracks Paiva with an uppercut!
The fight stays on the outside here - Paiva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carver connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Paiva throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Paiva takes one to the chin there.
Paiva looks to land a combination but Carver avoids it well.
Paiva throws a jab but it's blocked by Carver.

Paiva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carver manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Paiva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Paiva throws and elbow that misses. Carver uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Paiva's guard. Nice move by Carver!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carver not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Carver won't allow Paiva to sweep him here.
Paiva wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carver manages to pass to side control.
Paiva wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carver with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carver moves nicely into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brian Carver will probably get the nod.

Carver throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Paiva takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Carver throws out a leg kick but Paiva moves out of range and Carver only half commits.
Paiva is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Carver rather than just go for the knockout.
Paiva misses with a body shot.
Carver fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Paiva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carver tries to avoid it but Paiva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carver to the ground. Carver escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carver scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Carver throws out a leg kick but Paiva moves out of range and Carver only half commits.
Carver scores with a shot to the body.
Paiva takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A lazy left from Carver finds it's target.
Paiva shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Carver misses with a few strikes there.
Paiva looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Carver fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Paiva manages to avoid it.
Paiva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Carver scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Carver slips a jab and a cross from Paiva.
Paiva is breathing heavily.
Paiva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carver lands a nice looking body shot.
Paiva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Brian Carver is winning the standup battle so far.
Carver connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Carver lands with a straight right. Paiva didn't see that one coming.


Paiva is rocked!
Carver lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Paiva is still on wobbly legs! Can Carver finish him?
Carver looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Donk. Carver catches Paiva right on the button with a cross.
Carver throws a monster overhand right that drops Paiva! Carver follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
