PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rusim Dole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Chow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rusim Dole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Chow!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dole fails with a takedown attempt.
Dole tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dole somewhat.
Dole shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chow pinned against the cage. Chow gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rusim Dole. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Chow.

Chow is trying to get an arm triangle but Dole is defending well.
Chow fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dole tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chow wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chow is looking to take a break and control but Dole is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Chow has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The ground and pound from Chow seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Chow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Chow in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dole tries to improve position but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dole doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Chow counters with a three punch combo that has Dole backing up. Dole nods at Chow to acknowledge the strikes.
Dole is breathing heavily.

Chow closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dole to the mat! Dole manages to get full guard.

Chow thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Chow trying to control the position from guard on top but Dole is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chow gets to his feet - Dole follows without any prompting.
A left lands for Chow.
Rusim Dole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dole doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Chow counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chow pushes down on Dole's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Chow is controlling the pace.
Dole tries to get to full guard but Chow has control of the leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dole manages to get to full guard.
Chow wants to control from the top but Dole keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Chow dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Chow feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dole can't keep his opponent in guard - Chow advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dole is trying to maintain the position but Chow is very close to passing his half guard.

Chow is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Chow trying to control from Dole's half guard. Dole has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chow pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dole is keeping the position for now.
Dole manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chow manages to get himself to full guard.
Dole has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Dole postures up in Chow's guard and throws a big left but Chow blocks it.
Dole looking to pass the guard.
Dole wants to control from the top but Chow keeps moving.
Dole will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chow is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dole won't allow Chow to sweep him here.

Dole drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chow dives on top into guard.
Chow throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Chow advances to half guard.
Chow wants to pass to mount but Dole is defending the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chow is keen to just control but Dole is a slippery customer.
Dole is pressing down on Chow's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Chow wants to stand but Dole is controlling his posture from full guard.
Chow wants to control from the top but Dole keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dole is looking to sweep but instead, Chow has passed into half guard.
Chow content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Chow seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chow wants to advance to full mount but Dole doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Chow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

and Chow counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dole won't be happy with that.

Chow tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chow has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Chow wants to control but Dole is keeping him busy.
Dole is trying to control Chow's posture but Chow avoids it.

The referee asks Chow politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Chow prefers to stall for the moment though.
Dole regains half guard, as Chow was trying to land strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dole trying to hold on to Chow's head to control him but Chow postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chow wants to pass to mount but Dole is defending the position.
Chow should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chow throws a leg kick but Dole sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Chow has his takedown stuffed

and Dole decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chow's guard.
Dole postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chow is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dole is staying active underneath Chow, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dole wants to control but Chow is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Chow is just content to waste time from the top position. Dole takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Chow's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Chow passes Dole's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dole is not content to let Chow control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dole is trying to maintain the position but Chow is very close to passing his half guard.
Dole is pressing down on Chow's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Chow drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dole looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dole looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dole!
The ground and pound from Dole seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ken Chow.
Well Chow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
