PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Blue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Olero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Olero's choice of entrance music: Love me tender. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Blue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Olero!
The judges for this bout are , and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blue shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Olero manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Olero pulls Blue in close to his closed guard and prevents Blue from doing any damage or advancing position.
Blue stopping the sweep attempt from Olero.
Blue controls from within his opponent's guard.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

Olero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blue gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Olero wants to stand and escape but Blue is having none of it.
Olero has control of Blue's left arm, preventing Blue from doing any damage.
Olero controls Blue momentarily but Blue frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blue controls from within his opponent's guard.
Olero pulls Blue in close to his closed guard and prevents Blue from doing any damage or advancing position.
Olero throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Olero has Blue pulled in close to control his posture.

Olero wriggles free and stands up.

Blue shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Olero is not content to let Blue control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Olero trying to control here.

Blue is looking for a kimura but Olero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Blue to get the leverage.
Blue is thwarting Olero's attempts to control the position.
Olero wants to get back to his feet.
Olero wants to control but Blue is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Olero punching from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Blue blocks a head kick by Olero.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Blue.
Blue is breathing heavily.

Olero bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Olero throws a sloppy head kick and Blue moves out of range easily.
Blue is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Olero misses with a double jab.
Olero looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Blue tries to clinch there but Olero circles away.

Blue is controlling Olero's posture.

Blue has a closed guard, preventing Olero from standing up.
Blue is trying to keep Olero in close.

Olero gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Blue avoids the head kick by Olero.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that George Blue will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Olero looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Olero is trying to control the action in half guard but Blue is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Olero is looking to stall here but Blue recovers full guard.
Olero thows a big elbow that misses.

Olero postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Blue is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Olero, into his guard.
Olero wants to get back to his feet but Blue is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Olero trying to strike off his back.
Olero is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Olero wants to stand and escape but Blue is having none of it.
Blue is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Blue wants to control from the top but Olero keeps moving.
Olero pulls Blue in to control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Olero tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Olero tries to clinch but Blue moves out of range.
Olero throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Blue.
Blue goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Blue closes the distance looking to clinch

and Olero counters by clinching up.

Olero decides to pull guard.
Olero has control of Blue's left arm, preventing Blue from doing any damage.
Blue trying to control but Olero is working from the bottom.
Blue is really struggling to control Olero but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Olero manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Olero looking for a guillotine from mount but Blue is having none of it.
Blue keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Olero takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Olero scoring with strikes but Blue is staying in there.

Blue keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Olero controlling from the full mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Olero is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Blue can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Olero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Olero fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Blue, pushing him back against the cage.
Olero jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Blue walks away with a smile on his face. Olero gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Blue misses with a takedown

and Olero counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Olero stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Blue tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Olero counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Blue seems a little lost for a moment, as Olero dominates the positioning.
Blue is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Olero working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Blue tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Olero easily slips into full mount!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Olero lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Blue hang on?
Blue working to try and regain half guard.
Olero controlling his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blue taking shots to the head.
Jack Olero has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Olero stands up from mount. Strange move.

Olero rushes Blue and presses him up against the cage.

Olero drags the fight down to the ground.

Blue avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Blue postures up.
Blue stops Olero from standing up.

Blue got a little sloppy there for a moment and Olero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blue has managed to get both his arms back between Olero's legs - danger averted.
Blue seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Olero is pulling down on Blue's head. It's preventing any offense from Blue, at least for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Olero wants to stand up but Blue is controlling him.

Olero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blue is aware though and is defending well.
Olero controls Blue momentarily but Blue frees himself.

Olero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blue doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blue manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Olero seems keen to control Blue's posture.
Blue makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Olero is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Olero not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Olero is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Olero not doing much here.
Olero's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Jack Olero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Olero has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
