The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Finch shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carter sprawls well. Carter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Finch gets slowly back to his feet. Finch scores with a body shot.
Nice straight punches there by Finch. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Finch.
It looks like Chris Carter has been cut. Carter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Finch is trying to defend but Carter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Finch is looking to control Carter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Finch avoid being mounted? Carter passes to full mount! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carter is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Finch has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Finch! Carter keeping moving, preventing Finch from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter trying to control the position here. Carter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Finch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Finch drops back looking for a leg! Carter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carter manages to kick Finch off! Finch jumps back into Carter's guard. Carter wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Carter keeping full guard, as Finch tries to pass. Carter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Finch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Finch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Finch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Finch has managed to get both his arms back between Carter's legs - danger averted. Carter controlling Finch's posture. Carter looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Finch has picked Carter up and slammed him! Carter can't keep hold of the triangle and Finch manages to pass to side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Finch decides to stand back up. Finch steps back and let's Carter get back to his feet. Finch is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Carter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Finch was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard. Carter looks gassed! Carter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Finch is keeping the position for now. Finch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Finch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carter's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Finch has his hands clasped together but Carter extends an breaks Finch's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Carter.
