The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts White, as that shot connected.
White bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Evans lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. White throws a nice looking combination but Evans bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. White throws a body punch but Evans moves out of range. White looks to land a combination but Evans avoids it well. A punch combination from White misses. White is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Evans. John White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. White fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Evans manages to avoid it. White misses with a wild body shot. White throws a good cross that connects.

and Evans cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Evans misses with a hook. Evans slips under a jab from White. Evans uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White. White throws a hook to the side of Evans's head but Evans sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. White gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Evans to score an easy takedown into full guard. Evans connects with a couple of short punches. Evans makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. White throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Evans wants to pass the guard but White is keeping the position. Evans wants to control from the top but White keeps moving. White is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Evans dives into side control.
Evans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Evans wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by White, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear White down.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans slips a nice elbow through White's hands, connecting with White's forehead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Evans looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks White with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Evans scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. White is trying to get back to full guard. Evans frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. White is looking to improve his position but Evans isn't that keen on the idea. Evans lands a nice shot to the head. White takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. White wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
White can't escape the position.
Evans blocks White's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. White throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Evans is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Evans extends the arm and White is forced to tap!
