Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shawn Davison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gerald Harris! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harris shoots in for a double leg but Davison sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Davison tries for a takedown but Harris circles away easily and Harris counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Harris. Harris prevents Davison from getting back to his feet. Harris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davison works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Davison is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harris is controlling him. Davison working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Harris. Harris stands and steps away. Davison gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Harris gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Davison counters with a takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Davison trying to control the action but Harris is working from the bottom. Harris wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Davison tries to advance to mount but Harris denies him. Davison wants to control for a moment but Harris uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Davison seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Davison is looking to take a break and control but Harris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Harris doesn't succeed with the takedown and Davison decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Harris's guard. Shawn Davison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Harris. Harris wants to stand and escape but Davison is having none of it. Davison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Davison trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Harris scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Harris misses with a takedown attempt and Davison counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Harris looks gassed! Davison trying to control the action but Harris is working from the bottom. Davison wants to stand up but Harris is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davison is trying to control the action in half guard but Harris is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Harris is trying to stand back up but Davison is controlling him

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Davison shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Harris is trying to defend but Davison finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Davison seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Harris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Harris tries to kick Davison off but Davison keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Shawn Davison dominated that round. That's time! Davison's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Davison closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Davison prevents Harris from standing back up.
Still in half guard, Davison seems content to control. Davison has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Harris wants to get back to his feet. Davison trying to control from Harris's half guard. Harris has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Davison looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Harris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davison works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Harris won't allow Davison to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Shawn Davison overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davison keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully. Davison wants to stand up but Harris is controlling him.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Davison connects with a right hand. Harris shakes it off. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Davison closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Harris did well to prevent Davison getting side control. Davison thows a huge punch but Harris dodges it nicely.

Davison is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Harris is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Harris pushes Davison off looking to stand but Davison dives back in and keeps control.
Davison is just content to waste time from the top position. Harris takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davison tries to get out of the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Harris prevents Davison from getting back to his feet. Davison preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Davison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harris swivels though and keeps the full guard. Davison looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harris shoots and misses and Davison counters with a nice double leg into guard. Davison won't allow Harris to get back to his feet. Davison trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Davison controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Shawn Davison is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Davison closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Harris to the mat! Harris shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Davison manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Harris shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davison's guard. Davison wants to stand but Harris is controlling the position. Harris stands and steps away. Davison gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Davison throws a series of punches but Harris moves out of range. Harris has his takedown stuffed and Davison counters with a nice double leg into side control. Harris won't be happy with that. Harris tries to escape but Davison is in control. Davison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harris keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Davison tries to stand but Harris is controlling his head. Harris throws Davison to one side and escapes! Harris fails with the takedown and Davison counters with a lovely shot to the body. Shawn Davison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Harris.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davison shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Davison trying to control but he's not successful this time. Harris trying desperately to get to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Harris is squirming around, avoiding Davison's attempts to control the action. Davison is really struggling to control Harris but he's trying to hold on to the position. Davison wants to control the action but instead Harris gets a body lock and reverses into Davison's guard! Nice work! Davison is looking to stand back up but Harris counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Davison. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Harris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Davison's head. Harris stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Gerald Harris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shawn Davison is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Davison fails with the takedown and Harris counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Gerald Harris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Davison has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
