Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deshawn Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Darwin! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jackson decides to stand and escape the position. Jackson fails with a takedown attempt. Darwin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jackson connects with the punch. Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss. Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.

Darwin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Darwin tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it. Darwin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Jackson is out of range and Darwin settles back down. The fight moves into the clinch position. Darwin with a knee to the head.

Darwin didn't expect that. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Darwin pulls Jackson in close to his closed guard and prevents Jackson from doing any damage or advancing position. Darwin is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up.

Darwin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Darwin. Jackson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt. Darwin doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Darwin controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself. Jackson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. An inside leg kick lands from Jackson. Jackson takes a swing at Darwin's ribcage but misses. Darwin tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it. Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jackson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jackson is landing with some decent strikes but Darwin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jackson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Darwin is surviving well by controlling Jackson's body position as best he can. Darwin is looking to improve his position but Jackson isn't that keen on the idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Deshawn Jackson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Charles Darwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson tries to keep at a distance but Darwin has taken the fight into the clinch. Jackson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Darwin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jackson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Darwin is controlling him. Darwin takes a step back to recover. Jackson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jackson passes Darwin's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Darwin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Darwin is in trouble now - Jackson has advanced to mount! Jackson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Jackson avoids the attempt from Darwin to control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Darwin can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Deshawn Jackson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Jackson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
And that's the end of the fight! Deshawn Jackson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
