Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Herring!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herring misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Herring throws a series of punches but Cooke avoids them all with ease.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cooke.
Herring tries to bench press Cooke off him but Cooke keeps the position.
Herring managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Cooke.
Cooke takes a little break here. Herring wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Cooke cracks Herring with a big elbow.
Herring is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Sloppy strikes there by Cooke.
Herring pushes Cooke away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cooke gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cooke looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Cooke tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cooke has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Herring tries to buck Cooke off but Cooke is having none of it.
Herring gets back to half guard.
Cooke trying to control the action but Herring is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cooke gets a takedown into half guard.
Herring tries to roll over but Cooke keeps him under control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Herring tries to kick Cooke off but Cooke keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cooke slows the pace down in half guard.
Herring trying to hold on to Cooke's head to control him but Cooke postures up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cooke lands a nice short elbow.
Herring makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Herring.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cooke wants to control from the top but Herring keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cooke throwing strikes from guard but Herring blocks nicely.
Herring is trying to keep Cooke in close.
Cooke trying to control but Herring is working from the bottom.
Cooke really is a fat lump.
Cooke prevents Herring from getting back to his feet.
Cooke looking to sit in guard and control but Herring gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Herring drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cooke manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Herring has Cooke in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cooke trying to control but Herring is working from the bottom.
Cooke slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Herring trying to control the position here.
Cooke trying to control the position from guard on top but Herring is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Cooke dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Herring pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Herring throws a right and a left that both miss.
Herring throws a right and a left that Cooke avoids nicely.

Cooke rushes Herring and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Herring wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Herring tries to break free but Cooke pushes him back against the cage.

Cooke turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Herring is not content to let Cooke control the position.
Cooke prevents Herring from escaping the position.

Herring tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cooke wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cooke sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Herring is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Herring gets back to half guard.
Cooke wants to take a breather but Herring is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Herring tries to roll over but Cooke keeps him under control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Herring misses with a double jab.
Herring throws a sloppy head kick and Cooke moves out of range easily.
Frank Herring is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Herring looks to land a right hand but Cooke moved out of range.
A lazy left from Herring finds it's target.


It looks like John Cooke has been cut.
Cooke looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Herring is fending him off so far but Cooke persists. Nope, Herring circles away and we're back to standing.
Herring lands with a straight right. Cooke didn't see that one coming.
Herring scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.


John Cooke's cut is getting worse.
Herring misses with a few strikes there.
Herring pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Herring clobbers Cooke with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Herring throws a series of punches but Cooke moves out of range.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Herring! Cooke is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Herring!
