Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dirt Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Battista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dirt Down! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Battista! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Down looks for a takedown but Battista sprawls well. Down is trying hard to land a takedown here. Battista sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Battista moves into the clinch successfully.
Battista jumps guard but Down stands there with Battista around his waist. Battista gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Down tries for a takedown but Battista manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dirt Down. That's going to take a lot out of him. Battista pulls guard successfully.
Down's corner is telling him to maintain position. Down trying to control the position from guard on top but Battista is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Down is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Battista is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Down is stalling in the full guard. Battista had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Down defends it easily. Battista is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Down trying to move into half guard but instead Battista has managed to sweep! Down working for a triangle but Battista defends it easily.
Down is breathing heavily. Down keeping moving, preventing Battista from controlling successfully. Battista avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Battista is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Battista wanted to stand there but Down had control of the position. Battista is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Battista lands with a kick to the temple. Down shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Down looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Battista! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Down with the ground and pound from mount. Battista tries to reverse the position but Down maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Battista tries to lock up and control but Down gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Down throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Battista wants to hold on but Down pushes him away. Down goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Battista turns into him and now he's in Down's guard.
Battista stopping the sweep attempt from Down. Battista trying to control the position from guard on top but Down is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Battista pushes down on Down's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Battista scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Battista wants to take a breather but Down is having none of it. Battista is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Battista is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Battista trying to control the action but Down is working from the bottom. Down is trying to get back to full guard. Battista seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Down does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Battista dominated that round. That's time! Down's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A nice inside leg kick there by Battista. That's going to slow Down down. Down shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Battista as he avoids it easily. Battista doesn't manage to clinch there - Down circles away.
Battista misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Down has his takedown stuffed and Battista counters with a head kick. That will keep Down thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Battista scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Down is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Battista is looking to take a break and control but Down is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Down is trying to strike from the bottom but Battista has passed into full mount. Battista with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Battista is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Down is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Down flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Battista anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Down and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Battista slips an arm under Down chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Battista has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Battista is squeezing on Down like an anaconda would it's prey. Down fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ben Battista!
