Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carson Holliday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Byrne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holliday comes to the cage accompanied by Andreas Johnson - Glorious. Byrne is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Despicable by Eminem. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carson Holliday! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Byrne! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Byrne tries to clinch but Holliday moves out of range. Holliday looks for a takedown but Byrne sprawls well. Holliday shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Byrne's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Byrne wants to get back to his feet but Holliday is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Byrne is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Byrne is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Byrne keeping moving, preventing Holliday from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holliday is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Holliday throwing strikes but missing.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Holliday fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Byrne stalks Holliday and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Holliday's face. Holliday staggers backwards, shaken. Byrne misses with a double jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Byrne loads up on a big right hand but Holliday slips the punch. Byrne scores a takedown into full mount! Holliday is bucking up trying to escape but Byrne cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Byrne thowing shots but they're missing. Byrne is in the full mount, landing strikes. Byrne throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Byrne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Holliday. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Byrne throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Byrne unloads with some shots from mount but Holliday bucks and avoids them well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Byrne moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Holliday has worked his arm free - good work by Holliday!
Holliday is trying to control Byrne's posture but Byrne avoids it. Byrne creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Holliday is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Byrne off and has taken his back! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. I really don't envy Byrne right now.

Good work there from Holliday!
That's one minute gone in the round. Holliday is trying to get an arm triangle but Byrne is defending well. Holliday prevents Byrne from escaping the position. Byrne managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Holliday.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Byrne tries to bench press Holliday off him but Holliday keeps the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Holliday tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Holliday has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Byrne struggling a bit here. Byrne is looking to reverse the position. Byrne regains half guard. Byrne pushes Holliday off looking to stand but Holliday dives back in and keeps control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Byrne throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Holliday gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Byrne counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carson Holliday. That's going to take a lot out of him. Byrne throws a half hearted mid kick. Byrne looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Byrne doesn't succeed with the takedown and Holliday counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Byrne's guard now. Holliday slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Holliday in side control, just content to control the action for now. Byrne tries to bench press Holliday off him but Holliday keeps the position. Byrne struggling a bit here. That was a close second round but I would say that Carson Holliday will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Holliday trying to control the action but Byrne is working from the bottom. Byrne can't do much from the bottom here. Holliday wants to lay and pray for a moment but Byrne keeps working. Holliday tries for a kimura but Byrne is defending well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Byrne is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Holliday is controlling him well.
