Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julian Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Desouza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julian Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Desouza!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Desouza scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Desouza is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Desouza is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Desouza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Reis defends it well.
Reis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Reis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Reis.

Reis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Desouza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Reis looking for a guillotine here but Desouza defends easily.

Reis has his foot on Desouza's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Desouza works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Desouza thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Reis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Desouza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Desouza looking to pass the guard.

Desouza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reis is breathing heavily.
Desouza with a nice head shot there.

Reis is looking for a triangle but Desouza pushes his legs off easily.
Desouza wants to pass the guard but Reis is keeping the position.

Desouza trying to control but Reis is working from the bottom.
Desouza sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Reis's guard.

Reis actively working from the bottom here.
Reis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Desouza scores with a couple of nice shots.
Reis gets back to full guard.
Desouza stopping the sweep attempt from Reis.
Desouza is looking to work some ground and pound but Reis has wrist control.

Desouza drops back looking for a leg! Reis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reis manages to kick Desouza off! Desouza jumps back into Reis's guard.

Desouza has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Reis to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Desouza is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Reis pulls down on the head and he's put Desouza to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Julian Reis!
