PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Campese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuhki Tajima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Campese looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Campese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yuhki Tajima!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tajima drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Campese looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Tajima not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Tajima stands up from Campese's guard - Tajima perhaps looking for a knockout.

Tajima decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Tajima is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Tajima is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

I looks like Tajima might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tajima looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Tajima fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Campese is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Tajima has taken his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Campese trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Tajima just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Tajima has the hooks in. Campese is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Tajima controls the action.

Campese breaks Tajima's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Campese wants to control from the top but Tajima keeps moving.
Campese is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tajima is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Tajima wants to sweep but no luck.

Tajima has his foot on Campese's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Campese works his way back into a safe position though.
Campese wants to control from the top but Tajima keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Campese has his takedown stuffed

and Tajima counters by moving into the clinch.
Tajima lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Campese goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tajima prevents it.

Tajima breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuhki Tajima dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Tajima fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Campese, pushing him back against the cage.

Tajima manages to break the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tajima.

Tajima decides to stand up, so the ref orders Campese to his feet.

Tajima looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Tajima content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Tajima moves nicely into side control.
Tajima lands an elbow.
Tajima landing a few strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tajima is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Campese knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Campese can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Campese is looking for a sweep.

You can see the frustration on Campese's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tajima lands a few punches from side control.
Campese is trying to control Tajima's posture but Tajima avoids it.

Tajima tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tajima has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Campese throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Campese is looking for a sweep.
Tajima tries to move to mount but Campese blocks the move with his legs.
Campese is looking to regain half guard here but Tajima keeps moving and retains side control.
Campese is trying to work for a sweep but Tajima has mounted him!
Campese tries to lock up and control but Tajima gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Campese is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tajima is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Campese in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Tajima has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Campese's face.
Campese keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Tajima looking to control and managing it successfully.
Campese wants to control but Tajima is having none of it.
Yuhki Tajima has got the better of the ground game so far.
Tajima sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Campese wants to hold on but Tajima pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuhki Tajima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Campese misses with a takedown

and Tajima holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Campese is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Tajima escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vitor Campese is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tajima gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Campese bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Campese shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Campese showed some decent athleticism there.
Tajima wants to control but Campese is keeping busy.

Campese wants to take a breather but Tajima is having none of it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tajima is positioning himself well to prevent Campese advancing to mount.

Tajima is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Campese has latched onto it... Big trouble! Campese pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Tajima is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Campese!
