Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Chico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez comes into the arena with The Enemy by Godsmack blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chico dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chico throws the kick towards the body but Alvarez avoids it.
A punch combination from Chico misses.

Chico scores with a takedown into Alvarez's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chico drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alvarez!

Alvarez is trying to get an arm triangle but Chico is defending well.

Alvarez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chico, who protects the arm well.

Alvarez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alvarez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Alvarez has hold of Chico's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Chico tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Alvarez cranks the arm and Chico screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Chico, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
