Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yasegawa Masaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirty Mclevain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dirty Mclevain will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yasegawa Masaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dirty Mclevain!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mclevain changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Masaki looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mclevain advances nicely into full mount.
Mclevain trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Masaki tries to lock up and control but Mclevain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Masaki is trying to escape the mount.
Masaki wants to control but Mclevain is having none of it.
Masaki is looking to get to half guard.
Masaki is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mclevain misses with a head shot.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masaki avoids a series of strikes thrown by Mclevain.
Mclevain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mclevain tries to control but Masaki wriggling away.
Masaki is in a horrible position here. Mclevain smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Mclevain throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Masaki because Mclevain loaded up on that one.

Mclevain might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Masaki kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dirty Mclevain just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mclevain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Masaki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mclevain throws a right and a left that both miss.

Masaki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Masaki lands in his opponent's guard.
Mclevain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Masaki not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Masaki decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mclevain, up you get!

Masaki avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mclevain tries to break free but Masaki pushes him back against the cage.
Mclevain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mclevain scores with a nice hook to the head.
Masaki has Mclevain pressed against the cage, preventing Mclevain from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Masaki prevents Mclevain from breaking the clinch.
Mclevain has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Masaki tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mclevain smiles and moves away.

and Masaki counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Masaki.
Yasegawa Masaki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Masaki controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Masaki seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mclevain for as long as he can get away with.

Masaki wants to pass the guard but Mclevain is keeping the position.

Masaki is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mclevain is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mclevain has escaped and now he's on top!
Masaki thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Masaki looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Masaki on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Masaki tries to get out of the position.
Masaki manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Masaki has control of Mclevain's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mclevain regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mclevain is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Masaki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Mclevain gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Masaki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mclevain won't be happy with that.
Masaki is looking to take a break and control but Mclevain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee asks Masaki politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Masaki prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mclevain is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Masaki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mclevain knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mclevain is looking to stand up but Masaki isn't so interested in that idea.
Masaki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Masaki drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Masaki seems to have locked his on tight now - Mclevain screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Masaki, as he picks up the win!
