The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gailfus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gailfus is nestled in close to da Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
da Silva has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gailfus is working away from the top position though.
Gailfus wants to work for an arm triangle but da Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

da Silva tries to roll over but Gailfus keeps him under control.
Gailfus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
