Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Leonard Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Acter!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gonzalez but Gonzalez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Acter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Acter is defended easily by Gonzalez.
Acter closes the distance and pushes Gonzalez back into the cage.
Acter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gonzalez smiles and moves away.
Leonard Gonzalez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Acter.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Acter.
Paul Acter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Acter is looking for a triangle but Gonzalez pushes his legs off easily.
Acter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gonzalez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzalez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Acter's head.
Gonzalez working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Gonzalez is in close to Acter's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Acter has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Gonzalez doesn't defend quickly enough and Acter has managed to lock this one up! Can Gonzalez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Acter on a fantastic submission victory.
