PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Choo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen Trillionaire - Bun B ft. T-Pain as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Choo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ralph Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie wants to clinch up but Choo keeps it at a distance.

Choo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gracie throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gracie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Choo dives on top into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Choo stacks Gracie on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Choo!
Gracie is looking to reverse the position.
Choo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.
Gracie is trying to improve his position.
Choo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gracie!

Gracie wants to control but Choo is having none of it.
Choo tries to control but Gracie wriggling away.
Gracie is trying to escape the mount.
Gracie controls the position.
Choo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape.
Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gracie working to try and regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gracie holds on for dear life, controlling Choo's posture momentarily.
Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Choo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gracie sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Choo is nestled in close to Gracie, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Choo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Choo's back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie misses with an elbow to the head.

Gracie looking to break Choo's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Choo remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gracie will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Gracie looks gassed!

Gracie is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Choo defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Gracie doesn't have the hooks in and Choo manages to turn into his guard.
Choo wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie is trying to control Choo's posture but Choo avoids it.
Choo trying to control the position but Gracie is working away.
Gracie is looking for a sweep.
Choo trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ralph Gracie will probably get the nod.

An inside leg kick lands from Choo.

Choo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Gracie is trying to maintain the position but Choo is very close to passing his half guard.

Gracie looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Choo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Choo is aware though and is defending well.
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Choo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Choo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gracie is trying to keep Choo in close.
Choo trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gracie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Choo tries to move to mount but Gracie blocks the move with his legs.
Gracie tries to bench press Choo off him but Choo keeps the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Choo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gracie's half guard.
Choo uses his free foot to push down on Gracie's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gracie.
Gracie is desperately trying to improve his position but Choo has a good base and remains in mount.
Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Choo's attempts to control the action.

Gracie defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Choo.
Gracie is working to get back to half guard.
Choo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gracie can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gracie wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Gracie scoring with punches to the head and body.

Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Choo sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Gracie not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Gracie thows a huge punch but Choo dodges it nicely.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gracie is just content to waste time from the top position. Choo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Choo dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Gracie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Choo throwing shots but Gracie is blocking nicely.

Choo looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Gracie regains full guard. Nicely done.
Gracie wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gracie lands a jab.

Choo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gracie trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Choo manages to pass to mount!

Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Choo's attempts to control the action.
Gracie is in all sorts of trouble here.
Choo looking to control and managing it successfully.
Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Choo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Choo tries to control but Gracie wriggling away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Choo wants to take Gracie's back here but Gracie is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Choo controlling the pace for now.

Daniel Choo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Choo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
