PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fury comes to the cage accompanied by Lamb Of God - Descending. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bryan Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Masters!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Masters shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Masters controlling his opponent.
Let's hope that Masters has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Masters looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Fury tries to hold on but Masters pushes him away.
Masters controlling from mount.

Masters looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masters controlling his opponent.
Fury keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Masters landing punches.
Masters trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Fury knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Masters on the ground.
Fury wants to hold on but Masters pushes him away.
Masters wants to control the pace but Fury is squirming around nicely.
Fury working to try and regain half guard.
Fury is squirming around, avoiding Masters's attempts to control the action.
Masters prevents Fury from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masters tries to control but Fury wriggling away.

Masters jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Fury manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Masters is looking to take a break and control but Fury is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Masters scores with a takedown into Fury's guard.
Fury tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Masters drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fury looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fury looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fury!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Masters taking a bit of punishment here - Fury scoring with strikes.
Fury throws an elbow but Masters slips to the side and avoids it well.
Fury is breathing heavily.
Fury working away.
Fury sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Masters is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Masters parries the strikes from Fury easily there. Fury is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Masters to escape.
Masters wants to control but Fury postures up.
Fury scoring with punches and elbows.
Fury is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Masters dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Masters closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Masters is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fury has managed to free his arm - good work.
Fury is trying to maintain the position but Masters is very close to passing his half guard.
Masters trying to control the action but Fury is working from the bottom.

Masters wants to work for an arm triangle but Fury is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fury tries to roll over but Masters keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masters is just content to waste time from the top position. Fury takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Masters wants to control from the top but Fury keeps moving.
Fury looking for a sweep. Not yet Fury, not yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fury moves in looking to clinch but Masters pushes him off.
Fury looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Masters shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Masters shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fury's guard.
Masters trying to control the position from guard on top but Fury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Masters cracks Fury with a solid left hand.
Fury keeping moving, preventing Masters from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masters is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Fury has a closed guard, preventing Masters from standing up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Masters ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Masters misses with a low kick.
Masters looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No luck for Masters with that takedown attempt.
Fury tries to clinch up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Masters takes one to the side of the head.
No luck for Masters with that takedown attempt.
Bryan Fury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Masters.
Masters swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fury darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Masters keeps the fight on the outside.
Fury moves in looking to clinch but Masters pushes him off.

Masters shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Fury is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Masters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Masters closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fury to the mat! Fury manages to get full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Masters's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Masters lands a couple of elbows.
Masters wants to control from the top but Fury keeps moving.

Masters drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Masters as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Fury screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Masters! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ken Masters!
