PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Awang Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yamato Yoshimitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshimitsu is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by My Generation - Limp Bizkit. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Awang Fernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yamato Yoshimitsu!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshimitsu throws a head kick that Fernandez semi-blocks.
Yoshimitsu connects with a high kick.
Yoshimitsu fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fernandez shoots in looking for a takedown. Yoshimitsu tries to sprawl out of it but Fernandez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yoshimitsu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Yoshimitsu tries to close the distance and clinch but Fernandez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Yoshimitsu moves into the clinch successfully.

Yoshimitsu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fernandez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Yoshimitsu gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fernandez tries for a takedown but Yoshimitsu manages to get underhooks.

Fernandez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Yoshimitsu is pressed up against the cage. Fernandez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Yoshimitsu down to the mat. Yoshimitsu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Yoshimitsu tries to clinch up but Fernandez circles away and keeps his distance.

Yoshimitsu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Yoshimitsu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fernandez prevents Yoshimitsu from getting back to his feet.

Yoshimitsu decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Fernandez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Yoshimitsu is controlling him.

Yoshimitsu decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Yoshimitsu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fernandez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Yoshimitsu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fernandez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Yoshimitsu stands up over Fernandez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Yoshimitsu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fernandez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Awang Fernandez showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Yoshimitsu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
