PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jin Kazama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Jin Kazama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Castle!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castle throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Castle looks to land a right hand but Kazama moved out of range.
Castle checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Castle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kazama is trying to stand up here but Castle is controlling him well.
Castle wants to pass the guard but Kazama is defending well.
Castle passes to side control.
Kazama is looking for a sweep.
Castle throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Kazama manages to work his way to half guard, despite Castle's best efforts.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Castle postures up in Kazama's guard and throws a big left but Kazama blocks it.
Castle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Castle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Castle showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kazama tries to improve position but can't.
Kazama wants to get back to his feet but Castle drags him back down.

Castle moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kazama has worked his arm free - good work by Kazama!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kazama throws a nice looking combination but Castle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Castle cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Castle goes for an armbar but Kazama turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kazama.
Castle throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Castle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Castle is breathing heavily.

Castle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kazama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kazama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kazama would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Castle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Frank Castle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Castle shoots in looking for a takedown. Kazama tries to sprawl out of it but Castle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kazama manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Castle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Kazama lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Castle circles away quickly and effectively.

Castle is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kazama sees it coming and defends easily.

Frank Castle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Castle winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
