Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Noel Rodney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arabic Persian! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodney doesn't manage to clinch there - Persian circles away.
Rodney scores with a takedown into Persian's guard. Rodney wants to control from the top but Persian keeps moving. Rodney drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rodney jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Rodney won't allow Persian to get back to his feet. Rodney showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Rodney is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Persian looks gassed! Rodney is pushing down on Persian's leg trying to pass to half guard. Persian is fighting to maintain full guard but Rodney has managed to sneak the leg through. Rodney is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Persian is just riding it out for now. Rodney eventually gives up the hold. Rodney seems to be working for a kimura but Persian defends the submission attempt. Rodney trying to pass the guard but Persian defending well. Persian wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodney has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Persian is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rodney working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Persian turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Rodney off and cradles Persian's limp body as Rodney celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Noel Rodney!
