Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gleidson Roberto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmidt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is DMX/X gonna give it to ya. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Schmidt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gleidson Roberto! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schmidt shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schmidt showed some decent athleticism there. Roberto is trying to stand back up but Schmidt is controlling him
Schmidt is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Roberto sees it coming and defends easily. Schmidt is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Schmidt works his way into side control. Schmidt landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Schmidt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roberto has escaped the position, nice work there. Roberto is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Roberto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schmidt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schmidt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Schmidt is looking to take a break and control but Roberto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Schmidt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Schmidt is breathing heavily. Schmidt throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Roberto works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Schmidt trying to control from half guard but Roberto is working away. Roberto is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Schmidt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Roberto napping and manages to drive through into side control! Schmidt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Schmidt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schmidt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Roberto is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Schmidt is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schmidt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Roberto sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Schmidt prevents Roberto from escaping the position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Schmidt shoots in but no luck this time. Roberto knocks Schmidt to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roberto tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schmidt wants to control but Roberto postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mike Schmidt will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Roberto throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Schmidt's head. Gleidson Roberto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Schmidt avoids the head kick by Roberto.
Roberto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Schmidt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Roberto's guard. Roberto wants to stand up but Schmidt is controlling him. Roberto keeping moving, preventing Schmidt from controlling successfully. Schmidt is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Schmidt stops Roberto from standing up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Roberto keeping full guard, as Schmidt tries to pass. Schmidt throwing strikes from guard but Roberto blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roberto avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Schmidt looking to sit in guard and control but Roberto gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Roberto wants to stand and escape but instead Schmidt has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Schmidt trying to control the position from guard on top but Roberto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Roberto wants to stand up but Schmidt is controlling him. Roberto is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Schmidt drops back looking for a leg! Roberto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Roberto manages to kick Schmidt off! Schmidt jumps back into Roberto's guard. Roberto wants to stand but Schmidt is controlling the position. Schmidt looking to sit in guard and control but Roberto gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roberto has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Schmidt is proving hard to escape from. Schmidt controls Roberto momentarily but Roberto frees himself.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A head kick misses from Roberto. Schmidt drives through with a takedown into guard. Roberto wants to stand up but Schmidt is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Roberto keeping full guard, as Schmidt tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schmidt is working hard here to advance position. Roberto is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Schmidt is controlling him. Schmidt wants to pass the guard but Roberto is keeping the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Schmidt trying to control but Roberto is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Schmidt dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Roberto wants to stand but Schmidt is controlling the position. Schmidt pushes down on Roberto's leg and manages to get into half guard. Schmidt seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roberto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Schmidt wants to pass to mount but Roberto is defending the position. Schmidt is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Roberto has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roberto wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Roberto throws a head kick that half lands.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it! The fight stays on the outside here - Roberto looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A head kick misses from Roberto.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Schmidt looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Schmidt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Roberto doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schmidt. Roberto blocking the ground and pound attempt from Schmidt. Schmidt wants to work for an arm triangle but Roberto is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Schmidt is trying to control the action in half guard but Roberto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Schmidt is pressing down on Roberto's thigh, looking to free his foot. Roberto is holding on for now. Schmidt throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Schmidt stops Roberto from getting back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mike Schmidt. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Schmidt, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
