PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Finn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Finn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Von Bondies - C'mon c'mon. Adam Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Finn fails with a takedown attempt.
Jones blocks a jab.
Mickey Finn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Finn closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Finn pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Finn misses with a looping right.
A nice leg kick lands there from Jones.
Finn loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch.
Finn takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

It looks like Mickey Finn has been cut.

Finn drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones wants to stand up but Finn is controlling him.
Finn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Finn throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Finn controlling the position.
Jones trying to stand up but can't free himself from Finn's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Finn looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Jones puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Finn wants to get back to full guard.
Jones wants to stand up but Finn is controlling the position.
Jones is thwarting Finn's attempts to control the position.

Finn is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Finn looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.
Finn throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Adam Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jones lands with an uppercut that bounces Finn off the cage and back into rage.

Finn cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Finn throws a big shot that misses.
Finn fails with an attempt to clinch.
Finn fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mickey Finn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters circling - Jones throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jones throws a body punch but Finn moves out of range.
Finn throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Finn is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones.
Jones thows a left - swing and a miss!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Finn tries to clinch up.
Finn thows a body shot but no joy.
Finn closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Finn pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A low kick from Finn misses
and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Finn doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Finn. Finn gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A punch lands to the side of Finn 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target.
Finn fails with the takedown

and Jones counters with a crisp one two that drops Finn! Jones thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Finn to his feet! Finn is in big trouble!

Finn is rocked!

Mickey Finn's cut is getting worse.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mickey Finn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones misses with a looping right.
Adam Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Finn with a lazy takedown attempt
and Jones counters with a good low kick that Finn was not able to check.
Finn tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily
and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Mickey Finn's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones throws a wild body kick that Finn sees coming a mile off.

Finn takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Finn fails in his attempt to clinch.
Finn shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.
Jones lands a jab to the nose.

Jeez, Mickey Finn's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Jones punishes Finn's body with a nice straight punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Finn takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mickey Finn's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
