Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jed Rox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Earnie Champ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jed Rox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earnie Champ! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rox throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Champ stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Champ fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rox is looking to clinch but Champ is avoiding it.
Rox drives through and clinches with Champ against the cage.

A short right from Rox. Champ jumps guard and drags Rox to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Rox is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Champ is working an open guard so Rox takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Champ shoots for a double leg takedown but Rox sprawls well. He's pushed Champ's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jed Rox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earnie Champ. Champ closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rox circles away. Rox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rox wants to free his trapped foot but Champ is holding on for dear life with his legs. Rox is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Champ defends it well.

Champ is staying active underneath Rox, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Champ is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Rox tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Champ misses with a takedown attempt and Rox holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Rox is stalling here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rox goes for a takedown attempt but Champ pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rox is breathing heavily. Champ shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rox counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Champ's guard now. Rox is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Rox trying to move into half guard but instead Champ has managed to sweep! Rox trying to keep a closed guard but Champ is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rox throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rox working for a triangle but Champ defends it easily.
Rox throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jed Rox dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rox gets the takedown into side control. Rox remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Rox trying to control the action but Champ is working from the bottom. Rox is working Champ over with some ground and pound from side control. Rox wants to control but Champ is keeping him busy. Rox is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Champ is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Rox tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Champ is looking for a sweep. Champ parries the strikes from Rox easily there. Rox is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Champ to escape.
Champ is not content to let Rox control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rox scores a takedown into full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Rox moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Champ has worked his arm free - good work by Champ!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Champ struggling a bit here. Champ is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Champ tries to roll over but Rox keeps him under control. Rox looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rox trying to control from half guard but Champ is working away. Jed Rox overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rox trying to mount his opponent but Champ defends it. Champ regains full guard. Nicely done. Champ keeping moving, preventing Rox from controlling successfully. Rox gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Rox rushes Champ and presses him up against the cage. Rox is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Champ gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Rox goes for a takedown in the clinch but Champ prevents it.
Champ ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Champ no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Rox drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rox jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jed Rox dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Rox cracks Champ with a right hand to the side of the head. Rox scores a takedown into full mount!
Champ is rocked! Rox unloading with bombs! Champ is still in real trouble! Can Rox finish him? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rox tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Champ seems to have recovered his senses. Champ wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Rox.
Rox has hold of Champ's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Champ manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Champ tries to get back to half guard but can't. Champ has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Rox connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Champ to escape the position.
Rox is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Champ is defending well though. Rox let's go of the attempt for now. Champ covering up well under a series of strikes from Rox.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rox scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Rox has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Champ is defending well but eventually Rox manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Champ has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
