PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Spoonley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tommy Gunn was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Spoonley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Gunn!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Spoonley circles away quickly and effectively.
Gunn thows a body shot but no joy.
Spoonley ducks under a wild hook from Gunn.
Gunn scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Spoonley slips a straight right by Gunn.
Gunn misses with a few strikes there.
Gunn throws a right and a left that Spoonley avoids nicely.
Spoonley takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gunn changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Gunn lands a left and a right that sends Spoonley crashing to the canvas! Gunn dives into mount looking to finish!


Spoonley is rocked!


It looks like Jacob Spoonley has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gunn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Oh Spoonley is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gunn takes a little break here. Spoonley wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Gunn has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Spoonley drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gunn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gunn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gunn!

Tommy Gunn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Spoonley wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
