Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between St John McSevein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cal Tennant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for St John McSevein has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, St John McSevein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Cal Tennant!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McSevein throws a right hand that Tennant ducks under and follows up with a left that Tennant also avoids with ease.
Tennant misses with a double jab

and McSevein decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tennant's guard.
McSevein throwing strikes from guard but Tennant blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tennant avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McSevein accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tennant seems keen to control McSevein's posture.
McSevein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tennant swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tennant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McSevein can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McSevein throws and elbow that misses. Tennant uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McSevein's guard. Nice move by Tennant!

Tennant would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
McSevein wants to stand up but Tennant is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McSevein with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Tennant tries to clinch but McSevein moves out of range.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

McSevein lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Tennant down.
Tennant is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Tennant takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Tennant makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tennant.

McSevein keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tennant's head.

McSevein is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
McSevein lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Tennant is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McSevein defends well.
McSevein throws a strike but Tennant rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Tennant has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes McSevein off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

McSevein lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Tennant is trying to maintain the position but McSevein is very close to passing his half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McSevein connects with a nice short shot to Tennant's temple.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tennant can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Tennant pushes McSevein off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Tennant sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

and McSevein counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Tennant!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McSevein is landing with some decent strikes but Tennant is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Tennant escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McSevein gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Tennant throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and McSevein counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McSevein.
McSevein slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Tennant pushes McSevein away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McSevein gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
McSevein scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Tennant to see if he's OK.
St John McSevein is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Tennant takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A lull in the action here as McSevein stalls from top position.

Well McSevein has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
