Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Izakawa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Blade Batista! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Izakawa moves in looking to clinch but Batista pushes him off. Batista looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Batista moves out of range as Izakawa throws a body kick.
Izakawa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Batista defends it nicely. Blade Batista seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Batista is trying hard to land a takedown here. Izakawa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Izakawa fails with the takedown. Batista is looking to clinch but Izakawa is avoiding it.
Batista slaps away a takedown attempt from Izakawa, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Izakawa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Izakawa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Batista sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Izakawa is looking to clinch. Izakawa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Batista paws at him with a jab and circles away. Izakawa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Batista.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice takedown defense from Batista. No joy for Izakawa on that attempt. Izakawa doesn't manage to clinch there - Batista circles away.
Izakawa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Izakawa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Batista napping and manages to drive through into side control! Izakawa stands up and beckons Batista to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batista shoots for a double leg takedown but Izakawa sprawls well. He's pushed Batista's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Izakawa has closed the distance and engaged Batista in a clinch.

Batista jumps guard but Izakawa stands there with Batista around his waist. Batista gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Izakawa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Batista doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Batista manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Izakawa trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Batista with a nice head shot there. Izakawa manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Batista manages to get himself to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Batista can do anything to dispel that myth. Izakawa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Batista, up you get! Izakawa tries to clinch but Batista moves out of range. Batista looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Batista is thwarting Izakawa's attempts to control the position. Izakawa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batista working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Izakawa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Batista is aware though and is defending well. Batista got a little sloppy there for a moment and Izakawa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Batista has managed to get both his arms back between Izakawa's legs - danger averted. Batista stays in close to Izakawa's body and controls the position. Batista trying to control the position from guard on top but Izakawa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Batista postures up in Izakawa's guard and throws a big left but Izakawa blocks it. Izakawa looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Batista is defending well. Izakawa quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Batista has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Izakawa celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
