Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Wicker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Langlais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chris Langlais was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Langlais! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wicker is looking to clinch. Langlais avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wicker lands with a kick to the temple. Langlais shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Chris Langlais has been cut. Wicker tries to close the distance and clinch but Langlais swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Wicker clinches with his opponent.

Langlais throwing strikes but Wicker manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Wicker tries to stand but Langlais is controlling his head. Wicker trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Wicker tries to clinch but fails miserably and Langlais counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wicker won't be happy with that. Wicker dodges the ground and pound from Langlais. Langlais decides to take the fight back to the feet. Wicker darts in trying to clinch and Langlais counters by clinching up. Daniel Wicker has scored more points in the clinch so far.

and Wicker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Wicker clinches but Langlais breaks the clinch and Langlais counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Wicker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wicker tries to get out of the position. Langlais trying to stand up but can't free himself from Wicker's guard. Langlais is looking to work some ground and pound but Wicker has wrist control. Langlais wants to stand and escape but instead Wicker has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wicker stands and steps away. Langlais gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. A looping hook to the body misses from Langlais. Wicker does a little dance to reset his feet. Wicker lands with a straight right. Langlais didn't see that one coming. Wicker tries to clinch up and Langlais counters with a head kick. Wicker moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Langlais throws a head kick but Wicker moves out of range.

Langlais has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wicker is proving hard to escape from. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Langlais has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wicker is proving hard to escape from. Langlais working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Wicker working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Langlais. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wicker has a closed guard, preventing Langlais from standing up. Langlais is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Langlais accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Wicker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Langlais.

Langlais needs to keep his hands up - Wicker had a free shot at his head there. Wicker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Langlais. Daniel Wicker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Langlais chopping away at his opponent's legs.
