Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Wrap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pepito Tshabalala! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tshabalala keeps the fight on the outside. Horrible takedown by Tshabalala or perhaps it was just good defense by Wrap which made him look bad. Tshabalala feints and as Wrap raises his hands in defense, Tshabalala changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Tshabalala stands and throws Wrap's legs to the side, diving into side control. Tshabalala working away. Tshabalala is looking to take a break and control but Wrap is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tshabalala working away. Tshabalala thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Wrap is pushing Tshabalala's head away, looking to escape. Tshabalala manages to hold on to the position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wrap is looking to reverse the position. Wrap is not content to let Tshabalala control the position. Tshabalala tries to advance to mount but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tshabalala is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Wrap knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tshabalala on the ground. Tshabalala tries for a kimura but Wrap is defending well. Tshabalala tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Tshabalala thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Tshabalala looks gassed! Tshabalala wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wrap, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wrap is looking for a sweep. Tshabalala is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Tshabalala is trying to get an arm triangle but Wrap is defending well. Wrap wants to control but Tshabalala postures up. Wrap regains half guard. Tshabalala blocks the strikes from Wrap.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wrap wants to get back to his feet.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wrap drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wrap taking a breather here. Tshabalala is looking to regain half guard here but Wrap keeps moving and retains side control. Wrap lands a nice forearm strike. Tshabalala wants to control but Wrap postures up. Tshabalala tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wrap wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Wrap is looking to take a break and control but Tshabalala is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wrap in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Tshabalala is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
