PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Laggum Vane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Tuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vane's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, No Rest for the Wicked. Tuna has chosen Sharky + George as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Laggum Vane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug Tuna!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vane thows a left - swing and a miss!
Tuna stuffs the takedown attempt from Vane. Vane gets slowly back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tuna.
Tuna lands some shots froms side control.
Vane wants to control but Tuna postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tuna cracks Vane with a big right hand but Vane just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Vane is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tuna off and has taken his back!
Tuna looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Vane struggling to land strikes to the head as Tuna covers up.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Vane. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Tuna is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Tuna covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Tuna controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vane punches the canvas rather than the man.
Vane looking to hold on to the position here but Tuna rolls and ends up regaining guard.

Tuna has his feet on Vane's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Vane has his takedown stuffed

and Tuna counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tuna slips a nice elbow through Vane's hands, connecting with Vane's forehead.
Tuna thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vane's head.
Tuna is nestled in close to Vane, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Tuna looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tuna connects with a nice short shot to Vane's temple.
Vane is not content to let Tuna control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tuna lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Vane tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Vane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vane has hold of Tuna's hands but Tuna slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Tuna prevents Vane from improving his position.
Vane misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Tuna wants to pass to mount but Vane is defending the position.
Tuna lands with a punch from half guard.
Tuna scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Tuna wants to control but Vane is keeping him busy.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tuna closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vane did well to prevent Tuna getting side control.

Vane has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tuna is working away from the top position though.
Vane is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Tuna slips a nice elbow through Vane's hands, connecting with Vane's forehead.
Tuna winds up and cracks Vane with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tuna lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Tuna is looking to advance position but Vane won't allow it.
Tuna looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vane with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


Vane is rocked!

Tuna is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Oh Vane is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Tuna lands a big elbow - Vane is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Tuna!
