PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joey Joe Joe Jr Shabadoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shelby Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shabadoo comes into the arena with Hardcore Scat Punk blaring out of the sound system. Shelby Taylor will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joey Joe Joe Jr Shabadoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shelby Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shabadoo leaves Taylor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Shabadoo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Taylor's half guard.
Taylor wants to improve his position but Shabadoo is controlling well.
Taylor looks like he's trying to stand up.
Taylor won't allow Shabadoo to pass to mount.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shabadoo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shabadoo is working for a kimura but Taylor is defending it quite comfortably.
Taylor is trying to control but can't.
Taylor tries to roll over but Shabadoo keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Taylor wants to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taylor can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shabadoo not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Taylor.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Taylor sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shabadoo is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The strikes coming from Taylor are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Shabadoo is looking to reverse the position.

Taylor tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shabadoo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Taylor misses with a head shot. Shabadoo uses the momentum to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shabadoo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Taylor is one step ahead there.
Shabadoo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Taylor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Taylor is working Shabadoo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shabadoo has his foot on Taylor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Taylor works his way back into a safe position though.
Taylor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shabadoo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Taylor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A close round but Shelby Taylor will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shabadoo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Taylor misses with a takedown

and Shabadoo counters with a shoot takedown. Taylor fights it but they end up in guard.
Taylor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shabadoo is controlling him.
Taylor wants to sweep here but Shabadoo controlling him for the moment.

Taylor looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shabadoo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Taylor pushes Shabadoo off looking to stand but Shabadoo dives back in and keeps control.

Shabadoo wants to pass the guard but Taylor is defending well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Shabadoo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Taylor tries to bench press Shabadoo off him but Shabadoo keeps the position.

Shabadoo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

You can see the frustration on Taylor's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Shabadoo gets to mount! Taylor was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Taylor wants to hold on but Shabadoo pushes him away.

Taylor keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

so Shabadoo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Taylor wants to stand and escape but Shabadoo is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Shabadoo is pushing down on Taylor's leg trying to pass to half guard. Taylor is fighting to maintain full guard but Shabadoo has managed to sneak the leg through.

Shabadoo is working for a kimura but Taylor is defending it quite comfortably.

Shabadoo is trying to control. Taylor wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Taylor has a hand on Shabadoo's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Shabadoo takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Taylor is looking to improve his position but Shabadoo isn't that keen on the idea.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Shabadoo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Taylor can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Taylor tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Taylor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Taylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Taylor tries to lock up and control but Shabadoo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Joey Joe Joe Jr Shabadoo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Joey Joe Joe Jr Shabadoo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Shabadoo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
