The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

Smith wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.
Johnson passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Johnson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Smith rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Johnson's guard! Nice work there by Smith!
Smith is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him.

Smith is sitting in close to Johnson's body. Johnson has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Smith is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Smith is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Johnson.
