Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mo Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mo Mason!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lewis dives in and grabs Mason's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mason pushes down on Lewis's head and hops out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mason is defended easily by Lewis.
Lewis throws a right and a left that Mason avoids nicely.
Lewis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mason moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mason will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mason keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lewis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Lewis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lewis throws a looping overhand right but Mason ducks down to avoid it.

It looks like Mo Mason has been cut.

and Mason counters with a takedown into side control.

Mason trying to control the position but Lewis is working away.

Let's hope that Mason has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mo Mason just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lewis throws a hook to the side of Mason's head but Mason sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lewis misses with an uppercut. Mason saw that one coming.

Daniel Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mo Mason.

A jab from Lewis finds it's way through Mason's defenses.


That has opened up Mo Mason's cut even more.
Daniel Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lewis throws a hook but Mason blocks it.

Lewis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.
Mason lands a nice hook to Lewis's body. Lewis takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mason just misses with a punch to the body.
Mason shoots in but no luck this time.
Mason misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lewis throws a jab but it's blocked by Mason.
Mason moves away from the strike by Lewis.
Mason throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mason shoots in looking for a takedown. Lewis tries to sprawl out of it but Mason keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lewis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lewis misses with a two punch combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mason rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lewis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mason fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lewis falls off balance throwing a combination

and Mason counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mason prevents Lewis from improving his position.

Mason tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lewis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mason is keen to just control but Lewis is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lewis wants to control but Mason is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mason is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lewis!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Mason counters with a left and a right that stings Lewis.

and Mason counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lewis!

Mason pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Lewis is squirming around, avoiding Mason's attempts to control the action.
Lewis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mason wants to control the pace but Lewis is squirming around nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mason controls the position.
Lewis can't do much from the bottom here.

Mason is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lewis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mo Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Mason shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lewis as he avoids it easily.
Mason fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mason ducks under a wild hook from Lewis.
Lewis blocks a head kick by Mason.
Lewis lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Lewis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Horrible takedown by Mason or perhaps it was just good defense by Lewis which made him look bad.

Mason shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lewis sprawls well. Lewis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mason gets slowly back to his feet.

Mason wants to control but Lewis is keeping him busy.
Mason wants to take a breather but Lewis manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mason.
Lewis pulls Mason in close to prevent any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lewis wants to stand and escape but Mason is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lewis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.

and Lewis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Mason cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Mason lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Mason changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lewis tries to avoid it but Mason manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lewis to the ground. Lewis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mason misses with a series of wild punches.
Lewis connects with a nice looking jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lewis missing with a left hand there. Mason was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Lewis.
I think Lewis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
