PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between sergey Mo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spencer Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, sergey Mo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Spencer Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mo fails with the takedown.
Fisher tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Mo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mo wanted to stand there but Fisher had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fisher works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisher wants to sweep but no luck.
Mo throws a big right hand that misses.
Fisher is pulling down on Mo's head to control his posture.

Fisher working for submissions but it's allowed Mo to get to half guard.
Fisher blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mo.
Mo thows a huge punch but Fisher dodges it nicely.
Fisher desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Mo keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fisher keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mo wants to pass the guard but Fisher is defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Fisher drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fisher scoring with some ground and pound.
Fisher stops Mo from standing up.
Fisher throwing strikes but missing.

Fisher pushing down on Mo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Mo is trying to control but Fisher passes into side control!
Mo is breathing heavily.
Fisher creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Mo wants to control but Fisher postures up.
Fisher working the body and head with strikes.
Fisher scores with a couple of short elbows.
Fisher in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Fisher lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Mo gets back to half guard.
Mo is trying to stand back up but Fisher is controlling him
Fisher seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Fisher trying to pass the guard but Mo defending well.
Fisher scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spencer Fisher dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mo gets caught flat footed, as Fisher shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fisher stops Mo from standing up.
Mo wants to control the position but Fisher says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Mo is looking to improve his position.
Fisher lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Fisher is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mo is just riding it out for now. Fisher eventually gives up the hold.
Fisher wants to free his trapped foot but Mo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fisher thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mo's head.
Mo trying to hold on to Fisher's head to control him but Fisher postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Fisher closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mo did well to prevent Fisher getting side control.
Fisher wants to pass to mount but Mo is defending the position.
Mo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mo is looking to control Fisher's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mo avoid being mounted?
Fisher prevents Mo from improving his position.
Fisher is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Mo is not content to let Fisher control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mo misses with a takedown

and Fisher counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mo's guard now.
Fisher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fisher wants to control from the top but Mo keeps moving.
Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fisher postures up in Mo's guard and throws a big left but Mo blocks it.

Mo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fisher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Spencer Fisher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Mo wants to clinch

and Fisher counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mo won't be happy with that.

Mo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fisher is working away from the top position though.
Fisher slips a nice elbow through Mo's hands, connecting with Mo's forehead.

Fisher prevents Mo from standing back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fisher lands a nice short elbow.
Mo pushes Fisher off looking to stand but Fisher dives back in and keeps control.
Fisher tries to stand and escape but Mo is controlling the position.
Mo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Spencer Fisher has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mo.
Fisher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Fisher throws a strike but Mo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Fisher not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mo is pushing down on Fisher's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fisher is fighting to maintain full guard but Mo has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fisher keeps working.
Fisher is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mo's back!

Fisher wants to control the position but Mo frees himself and scrambles - Fisher manages to regain control in side control.

Mo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Fisher throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Mo is trying to control Fisher's posture but Fisher avoids it.

Spencer Fisher comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fisher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
