Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Guillermo Valez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antti Sokka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sokka has chosen Black Sun Aeon - Core of Winter as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Guillermo Valez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antti Sokka! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valez throws a shot from downtown. Sokka moves away and avoids it. A telegraphed right hand from Valez misses the target. Sokka moves into range and clinches up with Valez. Sokka fails to pull guard.
Valez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sokka jumps guard.
Valez trying to control the position from guard on top but Sokka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Valez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sokka has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Valez has passed into side control.
Valez trying to control the position but Sokka is working away. Sokka is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sokka is not content to let Valez control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Sokka shoots in for a takedown but Valez shows good takedown defense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Valez wants it to stay on the feet. Guillermo Valez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antti Sokka. Sokka scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Sokka prevents Valez from improving his position. Sokka is looking for a kimura but Valez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sokka to get the leverage. Sokka looks gassed! Valez trying to hold on to Sokka's head to control him but Sokka postures up.

Valez is looking to control Sokka's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Valez avoid being mounted?
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sokka dodges the punch combination from Valez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valez looks to score with a jab to the body but Sokka is just out of range. A slow jab from Valez misses its intended target. Valez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sokka moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Valez thows a left - swing and a miss! Sokka uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Valez. Sokka scores with a takedown into Valez's guard. Sokka preventing the sweep. Sokka sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Valez working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sokka tries to free his leg and advance position but Valez is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valez has momentary wrist control but Sokka slips an elbow through the middle. Sokka wants to control from the top but Valez keeps moving. Sokka slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Valez is not content to let Sokka control the position. Valez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Valez wants to get back to his feet.
Valez wants to improve his position but Sokka is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Valez is working hard here to advance position. Sokka wants to control but Valez is keeping him busy. Valez trying to control but Sokka postures up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Valez misses with an uppercut. Sokka saw that one coming. Sokka uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Valez. Sokka changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Valez tries to avoid it but Sokka manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Valez to the ground. Valez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sokka closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sokka is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Valez wants to stand back up but Sokka manages to pass into side control.
Valez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sokka asserts his dominance and retains side control. Sokka has an Americana. Valez didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Sokka is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Sokka hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Antti Sokka!
