The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lashley rushes Newton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Newton manages to pull guard.
Newton wants to sweep but no luck.
Lashley wants to pass the guard but Newton is keeping the position.

Newton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lashley pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lashley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Newton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Lashley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
