The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter lands a lovely overhand right.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carter sprawls well. Carter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet.
Carter misses with a looping right.
Carter misses with a looping left.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nelson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nelson fails to land with a series of punches.

Carter lands a big shot that drops Nelson! Can he finish him?

Nelson is rocked!

Carter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nelson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nelson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nelson!
Nelson is still in real trouble! Can Carter finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nelson seems to have recovered his senses.

Nelson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nelson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Carter circles away from the clinch attempt.
No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carter throws a jab when Nelson was well out of range.
Carter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carter misses with an uppercut. Nelson saw that one coming.
Shawn Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter misses the shot to the body.
Nelson moves out of range of the strikes.

Nelson closes the distance and clinches up with Carter, looking for a takedown. Nelson pushes Carter against the cage but Carter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Carter misses with a straight right.
Carter lands with a big right hook that stumbles Nelson - he's out on his feet here! Carter follows up with another monster hook that separates Nelson from consciousness! Nelson falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Carter stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
