Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yomi Sunday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Major Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Yomi Sunday has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Major Nelson! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch but Sunday swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nelson looks gassed! Excellent takedown into side control there by Sunday. Sunday tries to move into full mount but can't pass Nelson's legs. Sunday wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nelson keeps working. Nelson is looking for a sweep. Sunday trying to control the position but Nelson is working away. Sunday knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nelson on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sunday moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sunday scores with a takedown into Nelson's guard. Sunday wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Sunday would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sunday pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nelson is keeping the position for now. Sunday sitting in guard, not really doing much. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sunday seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nelson for as long as he can get away with. Nelson is staying active underneath Sunday, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sunday seems to be working for a kimura but Nelson defends the submission attempt. Nelson is not content to let Sunday control the position. Sunday is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nelson sees it coming and defends easily. Nelson is trying to stand.

Sunday might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Sunday is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nelson defends well. Nelson wants to stand but Sunday has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Sunday is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sunday wants to sweep but no luck. Nelson is breathing heavily. Sunday trying to keep a closed guard but Nelson is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sunday shoots in and bounces Nelson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sunday stands and steps away. Nelson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Sunday clinches. Sunday pulls guard successfully.

Sunday is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sunday tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Nelson is trying desperately to improve position. Sunday controlling from the full mount. Nelson tries to hold on but Sunday postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sunday wants to control the pace but Nelson is squirming around nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yomi Sunday dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Nelson checks a leg kick. Sunday scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Nelson has hold of Sunday's hands but Sunday slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Sunday trying to control from half guard but Nelson is working away. Sunday lands with a punch from half guard. Sunday looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sunday stands up and beckons Nelson to join him on the feet. Nelson gets caught flat footed, as Sunday shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Nelson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson keeping moving, preventing Sunday from controlling successfully. Sunday looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Sunday trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Yomi Sunday just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Sunday gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Sunday's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
