Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Larry Thiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitri Karpanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry Thiel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dmitri Karpanov! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karpanov looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Karpanov drives through with a takedown into guard. Karpanov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Karpanov won't allow Thiel to get back to his feet. Karpanov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Thiel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Karpanov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Karpanov is taking a break and basically stalling.  That's one minute gone in the round. Karpanov tries to free his leg and advance position but Thiel is retaining full guard. Karpanov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Thiel tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thiel tries to strike from the bottom.
 The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Karpanov closes the distance and clinches. Karpanov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Karpanov turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Karpanov manages to end up in side control.
Karpanov stands up and we're back to a striking position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Karpanov tries to clinch but Thiel moves out of range. Karpanov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thiel paws at him with a jab and circles away. Karpanov fails with a takedown attempt. Thiel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Karpanov circles away quickly and effectively. Thiel tries for a takedown but Karpanov circles away easily
and Karpanov counters with a shoot takedown. Thiel fights it but they end up in guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Thiel is trying to keep Karpanov in close.
Karpanov gets to his feet - Thiel follows without any prompting.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Karpanov. Karpanov throws a series of punches but Thiel moves out of range. Karpanov looks gassed! Thiel looks to score with a jab to the body but Karpanov is just out of range.
Karpanov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Thiel's half guard.
Karpanov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thiel is just riding it out for now. Karpanov eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Karpanov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Karpanov is trying to control the action in half guard but Thiel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Thiel wants to control but Karpanov is keeping busy.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Karpanov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Thiel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Thiel tries to roll over but Karpanov keeps him under control. Karpanov is trying to control the action in half guard but Thiel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Thiel manages to get to full guard.

 Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Thiel swinging wildly here.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Thiel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Karpanov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Karpanov. Thiel is trying to force a seperation but Karpanov has the dominant position.

Karpanov closes the distance and clinches. Karpanov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Thiel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Karpanov pulls Thiel into guard.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Thiel trying to control but Karpanov is working from the bottom. Thiel distracts Karpanov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thiel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dmitri Karpanov has got the better of the ground game so far. Thiel looking to sit in guard and control but Karpanov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Thiel looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Thiel keeping moving, preventing Karpanov from controlling successfully.
Karpanov gets to his feet. Thiel looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Thiel throws a head kick that misses.
Karpanov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thiel was covering up waiting for the punch and Karpanov finishes the takedown easily into guard. Thiel keeping moving, preventing Karpanov from controlling successfully. Thiel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Karpanov looking to pass the guard. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
Dmitri Karpanov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Thiel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Thiel misses with a takedown
and Karpanov counters by clinching up. Thiel blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Thiel tries to throw a body punch but Karpanov avoids it by throwing Thiel back against the cage. Karpanov keeps control of Thiel as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Thiel fails to pull guard.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Thiel. That's going to take a lot out of him. A right handed body shot lands from Karpanov.
Thiel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Karpanov goes for a takedown attempt but Thiel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Karpanov throws a leg kick but Thiel moved away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karpanov throws a head kick but Thiel moves out of range.

Thiel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Karpanov sprawls well initially but Thiel persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Karpanov is looking to improve his position.
Karpanov makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

and Karpanov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Thiel! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Thiel can't escape the position.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Thiel is staying active underneath Karpanov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Larry Thiel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dmitri Karpanov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Karpanov in particular looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Dmitri Karpanov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Karpanov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
