Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rolando Nogueria!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Moreira!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueria tries for a takedown but Moreira sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nogueria shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nogueria shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moreira as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rolando Nogueria. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moreira lands a glancing blow to the side of Nogueria's head.
Moreira throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nogueria takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nogueria is rocked!
Nogueria tries for a takedown but Moreira sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nogueria shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moreira but Moreira pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nogueria moves in looking to clinch but Moreira pushes him off.
Moreira gets the takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Moreira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nogueria, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moreira advances nicely into full mount.
Moreira has control of Nogueria's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nogueria regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moreira working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Nogueria turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Moreira off and cradles Nogueria's limp body as Moreira celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Marcelo Moreira!
