The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bato lands a jab to the head.
Sopa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sopa somewhat.
Bato cracks Sopa with a big right hand and Sopa goes down!
Sopa is rocked!
It looks like JP Sopa has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sopa wants to stand but Bato is controlling the position.
Oh Sopa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sopa is trying to control the position but Bato postures up.
Sopa seems to have got his legs back now.
Sopa is breathing heavily.
Bato would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bato tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bato throws a leg kick which misses Sopa's front leg but catches the back leg as Sopa tries to avoid it.

Totoy Bato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bato looks to land a combination but Sopa avoids it well.
Bato lands a jab.
Nice combo by Bato! Oh, that's hurt him - Sopa falls to the canvas and Bato follows him into side control.
Bato wants to stand but Sopa has his arm trapped.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bato misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bato throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sopa.
Bato moves in looking to clinch but Sopa pushes him off.
Sopa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bato sprawls well. Bato wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sopa gets slowly back to his feet.
Bato misses with a two punch combination.
Some bone on bone action there as Sopa checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Bato will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Bato moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Bato fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Totoy Bato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bato punishes Sopa's body with a nice straight punch.
Bato is looking to clinch.

Bato connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sopa momentarily.
Bato throws a right and a left that Sopa avoids nicely.
Bato works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Sopa blocks the body kick.

Bato connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Sopa! He's out on his feet! Bato rushes in and drops Sopa with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
