Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Justus Sheehan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Vann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sheehan comes to the cage accompanied by Gold Guns Girls. Vann has chosen Lose Yourself- Eminem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. James Vann has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Vann!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vann tries to bum rush Sheehan with a series of wild strikes but Sheehan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Vann shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Sheehan is trying to stand up here but Vann is controlling him well.
Sheehan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sheehan.

Sheehan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Vann throwing strikes but missing.
Sheehan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vann is controlling him.

Sheehan has control of Vann's left arm, preventing Vann from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vann wants to control from the top but Sheehan keeps moving.

Vann throws a strike but Sheehan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Vann with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Vann moves in looking to clinch but Sheehan pushes him off.

and Vann counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Vann stalling away here and it's allowed Sheehan to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Sheehan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vann doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vann manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Vann will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sheehan up against the cage.
Vann lands a good knee to the midsection. Sheehan won't want to take too many of those.

Sheehan is trying to drag Vann to the mat but Vann just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Vann breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sheehan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Vann.

Justus Sheehan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Vann.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sheehan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sheehan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Vann lands a couple of decent looking shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Justus Sheehan will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The fight stays on the outside here - Vann looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Horrible takedown by Vann or perhaps it was just good defense by Sheehan which made him look bad.

and Vann counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

It looks like James Vann has been cut.
Sheehan looks to land a combination. Vann sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sheehan digs a good body shot into Vann's ribs.
Sheehan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vann circles away quickly and effectively.

Sheehan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vann is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sheehan connects with a looping right hand.
Sheehan dips to his left and cracks Vann with an uppercut!
Sheehan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sheehan throws a nice looking combination but Vann bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Vann changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sheehan tries to avoid it but Vann manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sheehan to the ground. Sheehan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sheehan has hold of one of Vann's legs. Vann is fighting the takedown attempt but Sheehan gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sheehan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vann can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sheehan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vann's guard.
Sheehan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vann knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Still in half guard, Sheehan seems content to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sheehan seems to be working for a kimura but Vann defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


No joy there for Sheehan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Vann tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sheehan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vann somewhat.

Sheehan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sheehan.

Vann tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vann walks into a left hand.
Vann gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Sheehan connects with a stiff jab that staggers Vann - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
