The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Basta tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Basta to the ground. Basta escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No joy there for Basta, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
James could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Basta misses with a two punch combination.
Ricardo Basta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Basta throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease.
James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Basta is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Basta circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aluicious James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
