Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kim Kaphwan!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaphwan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kaphwan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Davis throws a head kick that Kaphwan semi-blocks.
Kaphwan throws a one two combo.
Davis slaps away a takedown attempt from Kaphwan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kaphwan tries to clinch but Davis is having none of it.

Davis shoots in for a takedown but Kaphwan shows good takedown defense.
Davis lands a really nice looking cross but Kaphwan seems unphased.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kaphwan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Davis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A clash of legs there as Kaphwan blocks the low kick.

Kaphwan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kaphwan wants to stand but Davis has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kaphwan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kaphwan has managed to get both his arms back between Davis's legs - danger averted.

Kaphwan wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kaphwan is looking to stand up but Davis won't let him.

Kaphwan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Davis is pulling down on Kaphwan's head to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kaphwan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Davis, up you get!

and Kaphwan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Davis counters with a left and a right that stings Kaphwan.

Kaphwan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Davis avoids it really well and circles away.

and Davis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Patrick Davis will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well Davis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
